LinkedIn has its year-end roundup of the buzzwords most overused in the profiles of its 187 million members. If you find yourself describing yourself with any of these terms, stop. Now.
Interestingly the oversuse of terms varies by geography. The Swiss fancy themselves “analytical,” while Brazilians are “experimental.” If you are looking for work in unemployed Spain, you describe yourself as “specialized.”
Somewhat puzzling is the same overused term used by LinkedIn users in France and Italy, “responsible.” There are few things those two nations have in common, and an overarching ethos of responsibility isn’t one of them.
Still better perhaps than the way Americans describe themselves in LinkedIn profiles: “creative.” How uncreative is that?
